Guilty Plea in Double Shooting Case

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 25-year-old Elon Fitzgerald of Buffalo pleaded guilty before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class “C” violent felony, and two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, Class “D” felonies.

On March 30, 2019, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the defendant fired multiple shots into an occupied vehicle on Main Street near the Kensington Expressway in the City of Buffalo. Two people were injured in the shooting. Both were taken to ECMC to be treated for their injuries and released.

Fitzgerald faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. He remains held without bail.

DA Flynn commends Detectives Joe Bonner and Natasha Anderson of the Buffalo Police Department Gun Violence Unit for their work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney John P. Gerken, Jr. of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Unit and Assistant District Attorney Sean B. Bunny of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau.
