Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 37-year-old Frederick D. Jordan, III of Buffalo has been arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Craig D. Hannah on one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A-1” felony. The defendant was arraigned last night.
It is alleged that on May 1, 2020, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the defendant stabbed 41-year-old Duane Donaldson in the parking lot of a plaza on Elmwood Avenue near Hinman Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim died at the scene.
Jordan is scheduled to return on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.
If convicted of the charge, he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
DA Flynn commends Det. Sgt. Steve Turner, Det. Anthony Lapiana, Det. Erin McCarthy, and Det. Chris Sterlace of the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Unit for their work in the investigation. DA Flynn also commends the off-duty firefighter who intervened during the attack.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
