Pistol Permit Application Tracking

The Erie County Clerk's Office is now offering you the ability to enroll in email updates on the status of your pistol permit application. This form is ONLY to enroll, NOT to get a status update.  Once you are enrolled you will receive updates as the application progresses through the process.

  1. Only sign up once, signing up more than once does nothing.  If you want to check on your status you must go to the ClerkHelp website and log in.  If you don't remember your password then you can select lost password and reset it.
  2. Information submitted in the form MUST match the information you provided on your application or you will not be enrolled.
  3. Please allow at least one week after you submit this form to receive your first email.
  4. DO NOT USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS TO TRACK MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS

The Application Process

The Application Process will follow these basic steps which will represent the email alerts you will get.  These alerts are automatically sent when an application goes from one step to the next.

  1. The application is recorded and pending the Police agency investigation. (Prepared for Police)
  2. The application is with the Police agency for investigation. (Under Investigation)
  3. The application is with the Erie County Clerk's Office.  (Investigation Completed)
  4. The application is with the Licensing Officer for review.  (Under Review)
  5. The application is with the Erie County Clerk's Office for processing.  (Review Completed)
  6. The approval/denial letter gets created and sent.  (Application Completed)

Please be patient as this process can take 8-12 months or maybe even longer as NYS continues to make changes.  Be assured that we will continue to notify you anytime your application moves to the next step and that you do not have to call our office.  If you want to check on your status you must go to the ClerkHelp website and log in.  If you don't remember your password then you can select lost password and reset it.
